ThoughtsThis wallpaper deals with Sam after 'No Rest For The Wicked'. While he buries Dean's amulet alongside his brother, he thinks back to the things he tried to save Dean (killing the Crossroads demon, turning his brother immortal via Doc Benton's secret science, summoning Ruby, willing to give into her), devastated that in the end all his attempts were futile. In the end, nothing he did mattered. I separated present and past with colour/b&w to emphasise that the memories are already fading, the only thing vivid in Sam’s mind is the reality of a life without his brother.

ThoughtsThis wallpaper is about Dean, contemplating what he leaves behind when he is gone. He realizes the impact that his death will have on Sam, leaving him scared and alone, beyond that there will be nobody else to mourn him, his life didn't lend itself to a family of his own and many possessions. I was tired of using the obligatory fire stock as a representation of hell, so I went with the light and the raven here. In celtic mythology the raven is associated with the God of the netherworld and a symbol for misfortune and death, so it was fitting well as an image for Dean's descend to hell.

ThoughtsThis wallpaper is based on a Salt'n Burn layout (December07). It deals with Sam's lonely journey in the first quarter of S3. With Dean being determined to convince Sam to let go of him, Sam reaches a lot of decisions on his own and has to choose the paths, that he wants to go down. Different ways present themselves to Sam, decisions on how to deal with Dean's deal, with Ruby, with his demonic heritage, with the secrets and burdens he carries around. In the distance is a light, Sam's hope to make the right decisions in the end.

ThoughtsThis piece deals with Sam's greatest fear ever since Dean told him about his supposed destiny in 'Hunted': the fear to turn evil, to become a mindless puppet in the hands of the yellow eyed demon.

The window here is a symbolic one, Sam looks through the 'window' into his soul and in his despair all he can see is something inherently evil inside him looking back. It's still restrained but struggling to break free within him and Sam is afraid that he has no control over it, which is why he begs Dean to watch over him and consequently kill him if necessary.

ThoughtsRe-Work Nov07: This is one of my favourite manips that I have ever done and I was itching to re-work it for quite some time. When I first made it, my PS skills were way less developed: Firstly, I was now able to work out Dean's eyes, they were barely visible before and I also manipped the top of his head in, since it looked cut off in the original. Unfortunately I think the cap of Dean closing the door behind him in the first version is not really recognisable as such, so I decided to replace it with the stock of a closing door instead, the darkness behind it still visible. Additionally I removed the texture, worked some highlights in and changed to a warmer colouring. I am very happy with the end result.

This wallpaper deals with Dean's habit to hide his worries, pain and hurt behind a smile and a joke, so the mask metaphor was an obvious choice. I added a shot from Dean closing a door behind him to symbolize how he often shuts the world out, dealing with his problems and fears on his own, isolated.
