ThoughtsThis is a complementary piece to my 'A Brother's Advice' artwork, where Dean pleads with Sam to look beyond his pain. Here Sam pleads with Dean to open up to him and share his hurt and guilt about what happened in the past. I positioned the shadow of the Shtrigas hand in the 'present' and above Dean, to show how this single incident reaches out to him 'til the present day.

The shadows over Dean's face not only show how his life is overshadowed by the loss of trust he earned from John after that day but also allows Sam, who is fully lightened and the actual PoV of the piece, to come to focus although Dean is in the foreground.

ThoughtsI tried to picture Dean being swallowed by a cloud of rage and emotions after his father is captured and presumably dead. Sam is looking at his brother from the outside, worried and nervous. The cuts through Dean's face show how torn and wounded he is. I think Llywelas words perfectly capture the intensity of this moment and the new level we see in Dean's personality.

ThoughtsWhen I watched Provenance I realized how much murderous Millie reminded me of Drusilla (BtVS). Not only physically, with the long black curls and lace dresses, but also in regard to her attachment to her doll and with her being mentally disturbed, yet a vicious killer. So I used Drusillas favourite children's rhyme in this piece, which not only embodies creepiness and childishness but also fits perfectly to how Millie trapped Sam and Sarah in the house to kill them.

ThoughtsThe metaphor here is quite obvious. There is a huge rift between John and Sam since the day he left for college. Only when John is able to admit his mistakes to Sam, it becomes possible for them to start a healing process. In the upper half John and Sam turn away from each other, in the lower half they are finally able to face each other. While they are both partly in the dark in the upper half, the piece becomes lighter down at the bottom. The rift, while it starts out wide in the upper right corner is about to close in the bottom left corner, showing how John's openeness heals the rift between them

ThoughtsWith this piece I intended to show how Sam re-evaluates his own childhood after meeting Max and his family in 'Nightmare'. He realizes that his own family could easily have turned into the same deformed, dysfunctional family like Max', if John hadn't taken care of his boys like he did. My starting point was that Max is a distorted 'mirror personality' of Sam, hence the mirror metaphor. Sam stares into the mirror and the shattered images of the Miller family reflect back on him. He is whole, the Millers are broken, the mirror shows him, what could have been the Winchesters under different circumstances.
